Welcome to the Ohio Chapter of Amigos de las Américas.

The Ohio Chapter of Amigos has been sending volunteers to Latin America since 1971! 

Amigos de las Américas is an international, volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization that:

• Builds partnerships to empower young leaders
• Advances community development
• Strengthens multicultural understanding in the Americas

After completing an extensive training program, high school and college-aged people are assigned to an AMIGOS project in Latin America.  Volunteers work with local professionals and organizations to reinforce existing programs.  They live in rural or semi-urban communities and are supervised by more experienced Volunteers (AMIGOS Project Staff) and officials of the partner agencies.
